Enmity

grudge |grəj| - noun

A persistent feeling of ill will or resentment resulting from a past insult or injury : she held a grudge against her former boss.

Why do people hold grudges? I don't understand it. If I'm ever mad at someone I can't hold it in because it just bugs me so much, so I end up talking to the person. Why not confront them? Why let something bottle up until you do stupid things?
